Contrary to SHIFT UP’s claims of no censorship, in a similar move to NIKKE, Stellar Blade was found to have nerfed a costume and blood splash in the Day 1 patch, giving credence to the theory that the developer (or Sony) doesn’t count “intentional changes” as censorship.
Said censored version of the “Holiday Rabbit” costume adds a black piece of cloth covering Eve’s breasts, as well as extra cloth to the sides of the hip area that brings the costume to one-piece swimsuit levels.
While at first the Stellar Blade community was initially apprehensive as to whether it had been changed, or whether the original version shown pre-release could be obtained in New Game+, the director of the game confirmed in a launch interview that the censored version was indeed “intended to be the original vision”:
In the past during the Chainsaw Man crossover with NIKKE, after complaints of Makima’s butt being covered by her jacket were made, SHIFT UP added a jacketless version of Makima as an additional costume for free, so there is a precedent that the uncovered version might be added in via a patch – though chances don’t seem high with Sony’s involvement.
The blood splatter is also seemingly less aggressive after the patch – though it should be noted that the amount of blood doesn’t seem to have changed. It seems that mainly Eve is less covered in blood after executing an enemy, despite being bathed in the juices.
Censoring or removing things from a game, after it was purchased, should be illegal. It’s quite literally theft.
I’m glad I never purchased a PS5 and instead bought a good GPU for my PC.
This after they went on record saying it would be uncensored means it was false advertising as well. Shift Up is not to be trusted. I mean they already weren’t after Nikke’s early censorship, but even more so now.

yep and contrary to what they say it was patched. The physical version which thankfully seems can be played without installing the day 1 patch has the uncensored outfit. This shows it was in fact edited. Sad part is if the game was good I was planning to buy a ps5 to play it but with them saying no censor ship then doing this means theyve lost my money. Its a matter of principle you advertise with said outfit then remove it AFTER saying not censored means f♥♥k you so if not fixed i dont buy no matter how good the game is.
The bondage outfit didn’t have the belly covered in the trailers. The physical version still has some censorship (although you get to keep the boob window)
Yeah I had to buy a physical copy so I can turn off the internet for the uncensored game.
After popularizing terms like Shrinkflation and Cheapflation, we should think about adding Censorflation or Ethicflation to the dictionary, as post-release censorship is becoming more and more common.

To you gamers. Let PC gaming be the only one that matters and triumphs over console games. It is because of PC gaming and the FOSS aspect of it is why I’m able to freely create adult games and contribute them as open-source projects.
I use Linux as my main operating system and I use it to develop my free and open-source game projects. FOSS is key for freedom in gaming. Not just free but also as in freedom. I never had to censor any of my games for anyone.
